Description
The Faria Beede Euro Black 4-Inch Pitot Speedometer reads up to 30 knots, styled in the Euro line's look, a perimeter-lit black face with heavy white lettering, set inside a black aluminum ring with a shaped white needle and a flat glass cover.
Pitot-tube speedometers work on pure water pressure rather than an electrical signal: as the boat moves, water pressure builds inside the pitot tube mounted through the hull, and that pressure travels through flexible tubing back to a bourdon tube movement inside the gauge head, where the mechanism converts that pressure directly into a speed reading on the dial. It's a simple, purely mechanical system with no wiring or sensor calibration involved on the speed side. Note that the pitot tube itself is sold separately and isn't included with the gauge.
