Digital Yacht N2K Protect NMEA 2000 Network Guard

The Digital Yacht N2K Protect is a security and diagnostic device for NMEA 2000 networks, powered from the backbone with no separate wiring.

An NMEA 2000 network has no built-in security, which is the gap this addresses. The CAN bus linking navigation, engine and electrical systems accepts messages from anything connected to it, and a compromised or faulty device can inject data the rest of the network will act on.

It also works as a commissioning tool, testing and validating the network during installation. That covers the ordinary problems too: termination errors, excessive load and devices misbehaving on a bus that otherwise gives very little diagnostic feedback.
