Daiwa BG4000 Spinning Reel 5.7:1 Saltwater Reel

The Daiwa BG4000 Spinning Reel 5.7:1 Saltwater Reel is a 4000 size BG, Daiwa's hard-working spinning reel for inshore saltwater, big freshwater fish and surf. Its black anodized aluminum housing keeps the gears aligned under heavy loads. It weighs about 14.3 oz and picks up about 39.9 in of line per turn of the handle.

Spool capacity is about 200 yd of 10 lb, 260 yd of 12 lb or 210 yd of 14 lb monofilament. With braid it holds about 370 yd of 20 lb, 280 yd of 30 lb or 200 yd of 40 lb. That range covers redfish, snook, striped bass, catfish and similar hard-pulling fish.

Daiwa's Air Rotor is lighter than a conventional rotor, so the reel starts turning with less effort and feels smoother. A solid screw-in handle has no wobble, which matters when you are cranking against a strong fish. Rinse it with fresh water after saltwater trips to keep it working smoothly. Compare it with the rest of our fishing reels.
