The Daiwa BG 5000 Spinning Reel is the larger-capacity model in this pair, using a 5.7:1 gear ratio with 6 ball bearings plus 1 roller bearing. It recovers 47.4 in of line per handle turn and is rated for 22.6 lb of maximum drag.
The spool carries 470 yd of 14 lb, 380 yd of 17 lb, or 280 yd of 20 lb monofilament. Braid capacity is 360 yd of 50 lb or 310 yd of 65 lb, giving the 5000 more line volume and heavier-braid capacity than the BG 4500.
An aluminum body provides the structural base for Daiwa’s Air Rotor, Automatic Tournament Drag, and DigiGear systems. Choose this larger reel when the rod, line class, and fishing application call for the additional capacity and faster line pickup.
