The Rite Edge Clip Point Damascus Blank is 8.25 inches overall with a 3.75 inch Damascus blade, in one-piece construction.

One-piece construction means blade and tang are a single continuous piece with no weld or joint, which is what a knifemaker wants under a handle that has to take load. At 3.75 inches the blade suits an everyday fixed blade or a small hunter rather than a large camp knife, so the finished build stays compact.

Damascus is forge-welded from layers of different steels, and the pattern that appears after etching is the boundary between those layers running through the metal.
