Description

The Cold Steel Wild West Bowie has a 10.75-inch satin 1095HC steel saber ground blade with a false top edge and a full tang at 16 inches overall, a rosewood handle, a brass guard, a lanyard hole and a black leather belt sheath.

A saber grind starts the bevel partway down the blade rather than at the spine, leaving a thick flat above it. That puts a great deal of steel behind the edge, which is what a 10.75-inch blade needs to survive chopping. The false top edge is ground to look sharpened along the clip but left blunt, thinning the point for piercing while keeping a spine you can press on.

1095HC takes a very keen edge and comes back on a stone quickly, developing a patina with use. Rosewood is dense and naturally oily enough to resist moisture without a finish, and a brass guard keeps the hand behind the edge. Explore more Camp and Field Knives.
