Description
The Cattlemans Cutlery Black Angus Stockman has black oxide coated 440 stainless clip, sheepsfoot and spey blades in a black Delrin handle with stainless bolsters and an inlay shield, closing to 3.5 inches.
Coated blades on a traditional stockman are unusual, and black oxide is the reason this one looks the way it does. The coating grows out of the steel surface rather than sitting on top as paint would, so it cuts glare and slows rust without adding thickness that could flake. It will wear at the edge over time, showing bright steel where the blade is sharpened, which most owners treat as part of a coated knife.
440 stainless resists corrosion well and comes back to sharp without special abrasives. Three blades divide the work: the clip for general cutting, the sheepsfoot for controlled push cuts, and the spey for scraping without a point to puncture. Explore more Stockman Knives.
