Description

The Camco PowerGrip 50-Amp Marine Extension Cord is 25 feet of 6-gauge copper rated for 50A 125/250V service, with SS2-50P and SS2-50R connectors.

Six-gauge copper is what allows a 25-foot run at 50 amps without meaningful voltage drop. A thinner cord of the same length delivers less voltage at the boat than the pedestal supplies, and equipment running low draws more current to compensate, which heats the cord further.

The connector configurations are the thing to check: NEMA SS2-50P male and SS2-50R female, matching 125/250V split-phase service. That is not the same as a 50A 125V single-voltage connector, and the two will not mate. The rating on the pedestal decides which is correct.

Threaded locking rings make a secure weather-resistant connection at both ends. The yellow jacket is flame-retardant, heat-resistant PVC that improves visibility and resists scuffing the deck, and an adjustable organizer and carrying strap are included. Rated to 12,500 watts. Explore more shore power cordsets and cables.

  • 6-gauge copper holds voltage across 25 feet at 50A
  • A thinner cord makes equipment draw more and heat it
  • SS2-50P and SS2-50R, for 125/250V split-phase
  • Will not mate with a 50A 125V connector
