The C.E. Smith Roller Bunks are a 5 ft pair rated to 1500 lb, supplied pre-assembled and pre-drilled.
The extra foot over the 4 ft pair spreads the same 1500 lb across more rollers, so hull pressure per roller drops and a longer boat is supported further along its length. On anything much over a small skiff that is the version to take, since a bunk shorter than the hull section it supports concentrates load at two points.
Roller bunks let a boat be winched up on a dry or barely submerged trailer, which is what makes them the answer for short or steep ramps where carpet bunks need the hull floating.
