Description

The Blue Sea Systems 8247 AC Digital Multimeter reads amperage to 150A, voltage from 80 to 270V, power to 45 kilowatts and frequency from 40 to 90 hertz, with a current transformer included.

The kilowatt reading is what most AC meters leave out, and on a boat running a generator it is the most useful number on the display. Amps and volts describe what is happening electrically. Kilowatts tell you how hard the set is working and whether the air conditioning can be started without tripping something.

Four readings at once means no cycling through a display to find the value wanted, which matters when watching a load come on. Alarms cover high and low voltage and high amperage, sounding and showing on screen rather than only one or the other.

The front is splashproof, which suits a helm or cockpit position rather than requiring a dry cabin location. Brightness has three levels and a programmable sleep mode blanks the display to conserve power when nobody is watching it. Explore more marine electrical meters.

  • Reads kilowatts, which most AC meters omit
  • Tells you if the generator can take another load
  • Four values at once with no cycling
  • Splashproof front, three brightness levels
