Description
The Blue Sea Systems 8237 AC Digital Voltmeter reads 80 to 270 volts behind a splashproof front.
The wide range covers both 120 and 240 volt systems from one part number, which simplifies stocking and means the same meter suits a boat wired either way. It reads low enough to show a brownout at a marina pedestal rather than simply going blank, and a sagging supply is what damages motors and compressors.
There are no alarms on this model, so it reports rather than warns. Somebody has to look at it. For a helm panel that gets scanned regularly that is fine. For an unattended boat, a meter with alarms is the better choice.
It does one job, which keeps the display large and the reading unambiguous. Display brightness has three levels and a manual sleep mode blanks the screen to conserve power when the panel is unattended. Explore more marine electrical meters.
