Description
The Blue Sea Systems 7601 Mini ACR is a compact 65A automatic charging relay for 12V dual-battery systems, with a snap-on cover.
Sixty-five amps is the alternator limit rather than a suggestion, and that is what decides whether this relay suits a boat. Outboards and smaller inboards typically produce below that. A larger alternator will exceed the relay's rating during bulk charging, and the relay becomes the weak point in the charging path.
It senses charging voltage on both banks and combines them when charging is available, then opens again when voltage drops. That separation is what stops house loads continuing to draw from the starting battery once the engine is off.
The compact housing suits either surface or panel mounting, which matters in the small electrical compartments these boats have. Heavy terminal studs take multiple cable lugs within the specified size, and an integrated LED shows relay status without a separate indicator. Explore more battery charging accessories.
- 65A alternator limit, not a suggestion
- A larger alternator makes the relay the weak point
- Combines while charging, separates when it stops
- Compact enough for a small electrical compartment
