Description
The Blue Sea Systems 1810 tank sender reads diesel, water or waste level using non-contacting SSI Technologies Fluid-Trac, calibrated for the VSM 422 only.
Compatibility is the first thing to check. This is calibrated for the VSM 422 monitor, part number 1800, and for that monitor only. It will not work correctly with other Blue Sea meters or with a generic gauge, so the sender and monitor have to be bought as a pair.
The sensing element is non-contacting, with no arm or wiper living in the tank to wear, corrode or stick. Conventional float senders fail exactly that way, giving intermittent readings or none at all, and in a waste tank that failure comes sooner than anywhere else on the boat.
Digital filtering handles the other tank sender problem, which is that liquid in a moving boat sloshes. Rather than a level swinging with every wave, the sender filters the signal so the reading settles on something usable. Paired with the VSM 422 it calibrates precisely per tank. Explore more marine electrical meters.
- Calibrated for the VSM 422 and nothing else
- Non-contacting, with nothing in the tank to wear
- Float senders stick and corrode, worst in waste tanks
- Digital filtering settles a sloshing reading
