Barton Marine Extra-Large Self-Tailing Wincher Pair

The Barton Marine Extra-Large Self-Tailing Wincher Pair converts a conventional sailboat winch into a self-tailing arrangement without replacing the winch itself. The extra-large molded ring grips the loaded sheet near the top of the drum and guides the line away as the winch turns. Once enough wraps are on the drum, the sheet can be locked into the ribbed center groove for a controlled cleating action. It is a simple retrofit for sailors who want easier sheet handling from an existing standard winch.

The Barton Wincher is a specially designed rubber molding that converts your standard winch into a self-tailing winch. This tried and tested design has been a firm favorite with Sailors for many years. The Wincher works by gripping the rope when the drum is fully loaded and under tension, peeling off the line from the underside of the Wincher as you winch to give a true self-tailing motion. Cleating is achieved by locking the sheet into the Wincher’s ribbed central groove.
