Birchwood Casey 8 in AR500 Double-Hole Gong Targets

The Birchwood Casey 8 in AR500 Double-Hole Gong Targets is a 8 in round gong cut from 3/8 in AR500 steel. It is rated for centerfire rifles and handguns. A 3 in target spot is included to give you a smaller aiming point on the face of the gong.

AR500 is abrasion-resistant steel hardened to about 500 Brinell, which lets the plate take repeated hits without cratering or deforming. Hard steel breaks bullets apart on impact instead of letting them dig in, so the face stays smooth for safer shooting. Two hanging holes let you mount the gong with two chains or straps so it swings straight back and resists spinning.

Common safe practice with steel is to stay at least 10 yards back with handguns and 100 yards back with centerfire rifles. Hang the plate so it angles slightly down, never shoot steel-core or armor-piercing ammunition, and wear eye protection. It is part of Birchwood Casey's World of Targets line.
