ARCO Honda Tohatsu 1997-Up Outboard Starter

The ARCO 3453 is a replacement starter for Honda and Tohatsu outboards from 75 to 150 HP. ARCO lists it for engines built from 2004 through 2014, and it cross-references to Honda 31200-ZY6-003, 31200-ZY9-003, and 31200-ZY9-H01. Tohatsu numbers HZY6-31200-003 and HZY9-31200-H01 are covered as well.

One starter covering both brands is common in this horsepower range, and the cross-references show which models share it. Sierra 18-6959 and Quicksilver 50-8M6007338 are also listed as equivalents. Match the number on your old starter to one of these before ordering, since starters from other horsepower ranges look similar but do not interchange. If your old starter carries a Honda or Tohatsu number not shown here, contact us before ordering and we will check it against ARCO's catalog.

ARCO tests every starter before boxing it and backs it with the ARCO Assurance warranty. Use a fully charged battery and clean, tight cable connections, since a weak supply makes the starter work harder and can burn the solenoid contacts. Once it is installed, check that the engine cranks at a steady speed with no grinding at the flywheel. Other starters are in our marine starters.
