ARCO Evinrude E-TEC Outboard Tilt Trim Relay

The ARCO R767 is a replacement tilt and trim relay for Evinrude E-TEC outboards built from 2004 through 2012, covering models from 25 to 300 HP. The relay is the switch that carries heavy current to the trim motor when you press the up or down button on the control or the cowling. Because the trim button only sends a small signal, a failed relay leaves the trim dead even when the switch and the motor are both fine.

Coverage changes from year to year, so check your exact model against ARCO's list. The 2004 coverage starts with the 40, 50, 75, and 90 HP E-TEC, and by 2011 and 2012 it runs from the 25 HP all the way up to the 300 HP. The 200, 225, and 250 HP models are covered from 2005 on, while the 115, 150, and 175 HP models join the list in 2007.

Common signs of a bad relay are a click with no movement, trim that works in only one direction, or a motor that keeps running after the button is released. Before replacing it, check the battery charge, the fuse, and the ground connection, since a weak supply can look exactly like a relay failure.
