ARCO 2-Wire 3-Bolt Outboard Tilt Trim Motor

The ARCO 6259 is a 3-bolt, 2-wire tilt and trim motor for mid-size Yamaha outboards. It fits the 2001-2004 50 HP and 2002-2004 60 HP 4-strokes, as well as the 2001-2006 40 HP and 2003-2009 50 HP 2-strokes with the TLR designation. Ring terminal ends and an O-ring are included. In Yamaha's model codes, the T in TLR means power trim and tilt, L means a 20-inch shaft, and R means remote control, so only those versions of the 2-strokes use this motor.

It replaces Yamaha 62Y-43880-01, 62Y-43880-02, 69W-43880-00, 69W-43880-01, and CS3-43880-00. Sierra 18-6811 and 18-18409 and Quicksilver 8M6007574 are also listed as equivalents. These numbers are usually printed on a label or stamped on the motor housing, which makes it easy to confirm a match before ordering.

The 3-bolt pattern is what separates this motor from Yamaha's 4-bolt versions, so count the bolts on your old motor first. Raise the engine and engage the tilt support before removing anything, and keep the work area clean so no grit gets into the pump. After installing, cycle the trim up and down several times and top off the fluid if the level has dropped. Wipe the ring terminals clean and coat them lightly with dielectric grease before tightening, which slows corrosion where the wires meet the motor.
