Description

The Ancor Yellow 2/0 AWG Battery Cable is tinned copper with Type 3 ultra-flexible stranding, exceeding UL 1426 and ABYC requirements.

Yellow is the ABYC-preferred color for DC negative, and it exists specifically to avoid confusion with AC wiring. On a boat with both AC and DC systems, black appears on the AC side as well. Yellow negative can only mean one thing, and new installations increasingly use it for that reason.

Choosing yellow at the start of a rewire is easier than converting halfway, since a mixed installation is confusing to anyone working on it later. That includes the owner in five years, who will not remember which convention was used where.

Tinned copper stranding resists corrosion and electrolysis in wet, salty and vibration-prone environments. Ultra-flexible Type 3 construction helps large cable bend around battery compartments and machinery spaces, with premium vinyl insulation rated 600V, 105°C dry and 75°C wet. Explore more battery cable.

  • Yellow is the ABYC preference for DC negative
  • Black also appears on the AC side of a boat
  • Yellow negative can only mean one thing
  • Decide the convention before starting a rewire
