The Ancor Green 18 AWG Tinned Copper Wire is a 500-foot spool of single conductor with Type 3 ultra-flexible stranding.
Green at 18 gauge covers the light end of grounding and bonding work: instrument grounds, small equipment cases and control circuit grounds. The heavy bonding conductors are 6 or 8 gauge. This is for the connections that hang off the system rather than the system itself.
It also serves as the green conductor in AC control circuits and low-current equipment grounds. Keeping green reserved for ground and bonding, rather than using it as a spare color, is what makes the convention useful.
