Description

The Ancor Black 8 AWG Tinned Copper Wire is a 50-foot length of single conductor with Type 3 ultra-flexible stranding.

A negative return at 8 gauge is often shorter than its matching positive, since it reaches a bus or an engine block rather than following the positive back. That makes 50 feet the sensible negative length where the positive might need 250, and buying the two sides differently costs less than matching them out of habit.

Black is the traditional DC negative color, with yellow stocked in the same gauge and length for boats following ABYC convention. Whichever is used, consistency across the boat matters more than which one is technically preferred.

Tinned copper stranding protects the conductor against corrosion and electrolysis in damp conditions. Ultra-flexible Type 3 construction improves routing through battery compartments, machinery spaces and panels while resisting fatigue from vibration and repeated flexing. Explore more marine wire.

  • Negatives are shorter: they reach a bus, not the panel
  • 50 feet where the positive might need 250
  • Buying different lengths costs less than matching
  • Black traditional, yellow in the same gauge
