The Al Mar Mini SERE 2020 has a 3-inch black titanium coated D2 tool steel talon blade with a partially serrated edge, a black G10 handle, assisted opening, an extended tang, a lanyard hole and a pocket clip, closing to 4 inches.

SERE stands for Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape, and Al Mar built the original for that training. The talon blade curves downward toward the point like a bird's claw, cutting on the pull where the edge traps material rather than letting it slide off. Serrations on the section nearest the handle add bite on rope and webbing, where the hand pushes hardest.

Assisted opening means a spring finishes the motion once the tang is pushed, so the blade deploys in one movement. D2 holds a working edge far longer than budget stainless, and titanium coating adds surface hardness while cutting glare. Explore more Assisted Opening Knives.
