The Trident VAC XHD is a 1-1/8 inch black bilge and live well hose in 50 foot lengths, with a hard PVC helix.

The helix is a rigid PVC spiral molded into the wall, and it exists to stop the hose collapsing under suction. A bilge pump or a live well pump pulls a vacuum, and a plain wall hose flattens shut. That is why suction hose and discharge hose are not interchangeable, even at the same diameter.
