Description

The Rough Rider Bluegill Barlow sets a mirror-finished stainless clip blade with a pen blade, fitted to a distinctive blue and green jigged bone handle with nickel silver bolsters and an inlay shield, part of the Bluegill series.

The barlow pattern is one of the oldest and most recognizable traditional knife shapes in American cutlery, historically defined by an elongated bolster that extends noticeably further down the handle than most other comparable patterns. Day to day work goes to the clip blade, while the pen blade's smaller, more controlled edge takes over for fine detail work a larger blade manages less cleanly. That blue and green jigged bone gives the handle a distinctive, aquatic-inspired color scheme that fits the Bluegill name well, standing well apart from the browns and whites found on most traditional barlows.

Opening is by nail nick, the way these have always worked, and each individual blade is secured by a slip joint, where spring tension does the work rather than a mechanical locking bar. Rough Rider's Bluegill series brings distinctive coloring to the historic barlow shape, a departure from the browns and whites that dominate most barlow patterns. Explore more Barlow Knives.
