The Rough Rider Backwoods Barlow pairs black stonewash-finished stainless clip and pen blades, set in an amber sawcut bone handle with copper bolsters and an inlay shield, part of the Backwoods Bushcrafter series.
The barlow pattern is one of the oldest and most recognizable traditional knife shapes, historically defined by an elongated bolster that extends noticeably further down the handle than most other patterns. Sawcut bone gets its texture from a specific cutting technique that leaves visible ridges across the surface, a distinctive alternative to the more common jigged bone finish. The black stonewash finish hides scuffs and fingerprints noticeably better than a bright polish, fitting for a knife built with field use in mind, and copper bolsters give this piece a distinctive warm tone.
Each blade is opened by a nail nick in the old pattern, secured by a slip joint, where spring tension does the work rather than a mechanical locking bar. Rough Rider's Backwoods Bushcrafter series brings field-ready styling to the classic barlow pattern. Explore more Barlow Knives.
