Description

The Rough Rider Marlin Spike combines two entirely distinct tools in one traditional pattern, a 440 stainless sheepsfoot cutting blade paired with a true marlin spike, a pointed, non-cutting tool blade for rope work, fitted to a white smooth bone handle.

That marlin spike is a specialized sailing and rigging tool rather than a cutting blade, a smooth, tapered point designed for splicing rope, loosening tight knots, and general cordage work without the risk of accidentally cutting the line the way a bladed tool would. Sailors and riggers have relied on exactly this blade-and-spike pairing for generations of maritime work. The sheepsfoot blade's straight edge and blunt spine excel at controlled push cuts. White smooth bone gives the handle a clean, classic look, and nickel silver bolsters add durability at the pivot points along with distinctive shine. A bail lets the Marlin Spike attach to a belt loop, pack, or lanyard for quick access.

Each blade is opened by a nail nick in the old pattern, kept closed by a slip joint, spring tension holding it rather than a mechanical lock. Rough Rider brings maritime heritage to this traditional two-tool pattern, a nod to the sailing knives that historically carried exactly this blade and spike combination for rigging work.
