The Ritchie X-11Y SportAbout is a hand bearing compass built for small boats where a mounted compass isn't practical, with an easy-to-read 2-inch direct-reading dial and a hardened steel pivot and sapphire jewel movement.

A built-in roller diaphragm extends its operating range across temperature swings that would affect a simpler compass, and the international safety yellow, silicone impact-resistant case is built to survive being dropped or knocked around on deck. A neck lanyard keeps it from going overboard in the process.

A QuickSight V-notch and lubber line make heading alignment straightforward at a glance, and non-electric chem sticks provide up to 18 hours of night lighting without needing a battery.
