Description

The Morakniv Basic 511 has a 3.5-inch carbon steel clip point blade at 8.125 inches overall, a green polypropylene handle and a black molded plastic belt sheath with a drain hole. Made in Sweden.

The drain hole matters more on this version than on the stainless Basics. A carbon blade left sitting in standing water inside a closed sheath will spot, and a hole in the bottom lets the water out instead. Carbon steel takes a keener edge than stainless and comes back on a stone faster, which is the trade the 511 makes against the stainless 546.

The Basic is Morakniv's plainest pattern, sold to Swedish tradespeople on the argument that a knife needs a good blade, a comfortable handle and nothing else. Green against a black sheath is a plain working combination rather than a matched colorway. Explore more Utility and Work Knives.
