Description

The Maretron Contura II Momentary-On Switch Module has all positions configured for momentary operation in a VMM-Series system.

Momentary means the switch returns to center when released rather than latching. That suits a windlass, a thruster, a trim tab or a horn: things that should run only while the button is held and stop the moment it is let go.

A latching switch on any of those is a genuine hazard, since a windlass left running does not stop itself. Choosing momentary against latching is a safety decision rather than a preference, and it depends entirely on what the circuit does.

The VMM architecture lets low-current helm wiring replace high-current switch panel harnesses. Load switching moves to the network node near the equipment, so the heavy cable never comes to the helm at all. Explore more marine electrical switches.

  • Momentary returns to center when released
  • For windlass, thruster, trim tabs and horn
  • A latching switch there is a hazard
  • Heavy cable never comes to the helm
