The Marbles Brown Checkered has a stainless clip blade in checkered bone, which grips where a smooth handle slips, with nickel silver bolsters, an inlay shield and a lanyard hole, closing to 3.88 inches on a lockback.
Checkering is cut into the bone as a grid of fine crossing lines. It is decorative, but it also works, giving the fingers something to hold against where smooth bone turns slick. The clip blade drops the tip below the spine line for control on detail work while leaving a long belly for general cutting.
A lockback holds the blade with a spine-mounted bar rather than the spring tension a slip joint relies on, and the lanyard hole lets the knife hang from a cord rather than sitting loose in a pocket. Explore more Lockback Knives.
