Jabsco 12V 3-Inch 105 CFM Flangemount Blower

The Jabsco 12V 3-Inch Flangemount Blower (part 35115-0020) moves about 105 CFM and is the basic engine compartment blower for many 12-volt boats. On gasoline-powered boats, the blower's main job is to clear fuel vapor from the engine and fuel tank spaces before the engine starts. Boats with gasoline engines carry a label telling the operator to run the blower for at least four minutes before starting.

The flange screws to a bulkhead or other flat surface, and 3-inch hose slips onto the collars. It is ignition protected, so the motor will not ignite fuel vapor in the space it is clearing. This is a standard-duty model, so it is meant for pre-start purging and short runs rather than all-day use.

If you need a blower to run for hours, such as to cool an engine room, choose one of the continuous-duty models instead. Mount the blower high in the exhaust duct and run the intake end of the duct into the lower third of the bilge, where heavy fuel vapor settles. Connect positive and negative correctly, since reversed polarity can make the fan blow the wrong way. Continuous-duty and 24V blowers are in boat outfitting.
