Hornady was founded by Joyce Hornady, who began producing his own .30 caliber bullet in 1949 in a rented garage in Grand Island, Nebraska. He lived by the mantra "10 bullets through one hole," and that focus on accuracy shaped the company from the start. Hornady is still family owned, led by Joyce's son Steve Hornady, and it remains based in Grand Island.
