Forespar Mast Light Guard, Chafe Protection

The Forespar Mast Light Guard measures 6.5 inches high by 5 inches wide by 6 inches long, keeping lines from snagging on mast fittings.

A halyard or a sheet that catches a mast light does two things, and neither is good. It breaks the fitting, and it jams the line at a point nobody can reach without going aloft. A guard is a cage that lets light out while giving a line nothing to hook on, and it appears on almost every cruising mast for that.
