The Faria Beede Chesapeake Black 4-Inch Tachometer reads engine RPM by counting pulses from the ignition system, alternator, tach signal generator, or magnetic pickup sender, wired to 12VDC, ground, and the correct signal source.
A rear-mounted switch sets how many pulses per engine revolution the tachometer should expect, letting one gauge adapt to different engine and ignition setups rather than needing a dedicated tach per configuration.
