The Byrd Hawkbill, part of Spyderco's budget-friendly import line, sets a serrated 3-inch 8Cr13MoV hawkbill blade with a thumb slot opener, fitted to a black GFN handle with a reversible pocket clip, closing to 4 inches.
That thumb slot, a cutout at the blade spine rather than Spyderco's signature round hole, still delivers fast one-handed opening at an accessible price point. The hawkbill blade curves sharply downward toward the tip, excelling at pulling cuts, drawing rope, cord, or fibrous material into the curved edge for a slicing action a straight blade can't replicate, and the serrated edge adds further bite through tough material.
