The Byrd Hawkbill is a dedicated cutting tool from Spyderco's value-oriented Byrd line, built around a fully serrated 3 inch satin finish 8Cr13MoV stainless hawkbill blade and a black glass filled nylon handle. The hawkbill blade geometry features an inwardly curved edge that excels at cutting rope, webbing, strapping, and fibrous materials where a straight edge cannot hook and pull material effectively, and the full serration maximizes cutting aggression on tough materials under pressure. At 4 inches closed it has enough handle length for a complete working grip.
The black glass filled nylon handle provides a lightweight, rigid grip with enough texture for confident control in wet or dry conditions, and the lockback mechanism provides solid, reliable lockup that holds secure under the hard pulling strokes that hawkbill cutting demands. A thumb pull allows smooth one handed opening, and a pocket clip keeps it positioned and accessible for a fast draw. At 3.2 oz it carries light for a dedicated cutting tool.
