Black Oak 2 in 850nm White Marine Infrared Pod Light

The Black Oak 2 in 850nm White Marine Infrared Pod Light combines the company’s marine housing treatment with an 850nm infrared flood source. It is intended to pair with compatible night-vision goggles, cameras, and other IR-sensitive imaging equipment. The flood pattern spreads infrared illumination across a wider scene instead of focusing it into a narrow beam. Black Oak notes that the pod can be used offshore or on a vehicle, giving it flexibility across marine and land-based night-vision setups.

The light uses 3W infrared LEDs and draws approximately 1.35A per fixture. Black Oak builds the pod with an aluminum housing and seals it for demanding wet environments. Black Oak rates the marine housing to IP69K and also offers high-throw spot or wide-flood infrared configurations within this product family, with this model set up as the flood version. Because infrared energy may not be visible to the naked eye, users should not stare directly into the operating light.

The pod’s rated wavelength is 850nm, and dimensions with the mounting bracket are approximately 3.20 in wide by 3.8 in high. The white housing helps the fixture blend into common marine surfaces and T-top structures. The sealed construction is intended to handle spray, washdown water, and exposed mounting positions. Final placement should also consider reflections from rails, gunwales, and nearby deck structures that could affect the night-vision image.

The package includes the infrared pod, a complete wiring harness with fuse, relay, and switch, mounting brackets, and installation hardware. That combination provides the primary electrical and mechanical components needed for a dedicated IR-light circuit. The harness should be routed separately from moving or heat-producing equipment and protected appropriately for the vessel or vehicle. The pod is sold individually.
