The Birchwood Casey World of Targets Hostage Silhouette combines a silhouette plate with a separate 6 inch hostage paddle. It's 1/2 inch AR500 steel on a two-piece base. The paddle forces more deliberate shot placement. One station supports both broad hits and precision shots.

AR500 is through-hardened steel rated around 500 on the Brinell scale, hard enough to take repeated hits without denting or cratering from common handgun and rifle rounds. Always follow the manufacturer's minimum safe distances, commonly at least 10 yards for handguns and 100 yards for rifles, and never shoot steel with steel-core, armor-piercing or bimetal-jacketed ammo. Set targets so they're angled slightly downward to direct fragments into the ground, and wear eye protection.

Hostage-style drills train shooters to place hits carefully, since the paddle sits close to the silhouette. The separate paddle adds variety over a single flat gong.
