The August Engineering Handle Scales are titanium replacement scales made to fit the Benchmade Bugout 535.
The stock Bugout uses Grivory to keep weight to a minimum, and it flexes noticeably under a hard grip. Titanium is rigid where the original gives, and the knife feels like a different tool once fitted. The trade is weight, since titanium is heavier than Grivory even though it is light for a metal.
Titanium will not corrode, needs no coating to protect it, and develops a patina with handling rather than wearing through a finish the way an anodized part eventually does.
