Description
The Ancor Red/Yellow 18/2 AWG Flat Safety Duplex Cable is a 250-foot spool in a white common jacket, with Type 3 Class K stranding.
Eighteen gauge safety duplex covers signal-level circuits: indicators, sensors, controls and low-draw electronics. Two hundred and fifty feet suits an instrument or control refit, where the runs are short but numerous, against the 500-foot spool for a complete rewire.
The limitation at this gauge is voltage drop rather than current capacity. A device drawing a couple of amps at the end of a long 18 gauge run will behave oddly rather than fail, and diagnosing that is far harder than finding a dead circuit.
Red and yellow follows ABYC identification, and the white outer jacket marks the cable as safety-coded without stripping it. Type 3 Class K ultra-flexible tinned copper stranding resists corrosion, electrolysis, vibration and repeated flexing, with the flat profile keeping the cable close behind panels and trim. Explore more duplex and triplex cable.
- 18 gauge for indicators, sensors and controls
- 250 feet for a refit, 500 for a full rewire
- Voltage drop limits it, not current capacity
- Odd behavior is harder to diagnose than a dead circuit
