Description
The Ancor 0.187-inch Female Heat Shrink Speaker Disconnects are a 100-piece pack for 16-14 AWG wire.
Tab width is the specification that decides whether these fit, and 0.187 is the larger of the two sizes stocked. Speaker terminals come in 0.110 and 0.187 and the difference is visible but easy to misjudge from a listing. Measuring the tab on the actual speaker before ordering is the only reliable check.
A female disconnect lets a speaker be unplugged for service without cutting and resplicing the wire. Speakers get swapped, upgraded and replaced more than almost anything else on a boat, and a permanently spliced installation makes each change a wiring job.
Heat-shrink construction protects the crimped conductor against the moisture a marine installation exposes it to. An unsealed spade terminal in a boat corrodes at the crimp and the audio degrades gradually rather than failing, which makes the cause hard to trace. Explore more wire connectors and terminals.
- 0.187 tab, the larger of the two sizes
- Measure the actual speaker tab before ordering
- Unplug a speaker without cutting the wire
- Unsealed spades corrode and degrade the audio
