1791 Gunleather Stealth Black L-Frame Thumb-Break Holster

The 1791 Gunleather Stealth Black L-Frame Thumb-Break Holster (RVHX-4.3-SBL-R) adds a thumb-break retention strap to 1791's L-frame revolver belt holster. It is shaped for L-frame size revolvers in the 4-inch barrel class, such as the Smith & Wesson 686 and similar frames, so confirm your revolver on 1791's fit chart. L-frames are heavy, six- or seven-shot .357 Magnum revolvers that are popular for hunting, trail carry, and home defense. Extra retention helps keep a heavy revolver in place during hiking, horseback riding, or work around the farm.

The strap wraps over the back of the revolver and snaps closed, adding an active retention step on top of the molded fit. To draw, your thumb presses the strap release as your hand takes the grip, so it adds very little time with practice. The holster body is molded American steerhide with reinforced stitching. Belt slots hold it tight against the hip so the weight does not pull it outward.

Wear it on a stiff, wide gun belt, which keeps a 40-ounce revolver from sagging. Practice the draw and the strap release with an unloaded revolver until it feels natural. Keep the snap clean and dry, and condition the leather once or twice a year. The leather will break in over the first week or so of wear. The open-top L-frame holster is in our gun holsters.
