The Spyderco K04SBK Serrated Utility Kitchen Knife has a 6.38-inch stainless blade with a fully serrated edge and a black polypropylene handle. Serrations grip tomato skins, bread crusts, and sausage casings where a plain edge tends to skate across the surface. It is made in Japan. It is a practical, everyday kitchen size that fits between a paring knife and a bread knife.
Spyderco's SpyderEdge pattern keeps cutting long after a plain edge would need sharpening, since the points of the serrations do most of the work. The spear point keeps the tip centered for scoring and small cuts. Polypropylene is food safe, nonporous, and stays grippy with wet or greasy hands. The handle is shaped to fill the hand without sharp edges, which helps during long prep sessions.
The 6.38-inch length is handy for sandwiches, citrus, small loaves, and cooked meats. Hand wash and dry it right away instead of using a dishwasher, which is hard on any knife. Store it in a block or blade guard so the serrations do not knock against other utensils. Avoid cutting on glass or stone boards, since they dull the serration points.
