Description

The Cattlemans Cutlery Stockyard Farriers Companion has a 3Cr13 stainless clip blade and a hoof pick in rosewood handles with stainless inlay spacers, a Cattlemans Cutlery etch and stainless bolsters, closing to 4.125 inches.

The hoof pick defines the pattern. It is a blunt hooked tool for clearing packed dirt, stones and manure from a horse's hoof before shoeing, work no cutting edge can do without injuring the animal. Rosewood is the departure here. Most Farriers Companions get Delrin for the abuse a barn hands out, and rosewood trades some of that for a warmer handle that darkens with use.

Rosewood is dense and naturally oily enough to resist moisture without a finish, and it has been used on tool handles for centuries. The inlay spacers are thin stainless strips set between the scales and the liners, showing as bright lines along the edge of the handle. Explore more Traditional Knives.
