Ronstan was founded in 1953 by Australian sailors Ron Allatt and Stan Le Nepveu, who met in 1946 while sailing together in a dinghy. They started by building wooden sailboats and the metal fittings to equip them, and by 1960 the company had shifted its focus to fittings after demand grew. Ronstan hardware went on to equip Australia II, the 1983 America's Cup winner, which helped build its reputation around the world.
