The Myerchin Sailors Tool is a 5 inch blue aluminum linerlock with a serrated stainless sheepsfoot blade, thumb studs and a marlin spike that doubles as a plier handle.

The marlin spike is the sailor's tool, used to open a knot pulled tight under load, and it is held closed by a bail rather than a lock. Releasing the bail swings the spike out to serve as the handle for the pliers. That is a clever bit of design. One component works as a spike, a lever and a grip depending on how it is deployed.

A serrated sheepsfoot is the standard sailing blade shape. No point means it cannot puncture an inflatable or a sail, and serrations saw through wet line where a plain edge slips.
