Rough Ryder 2156 Canoe Damascus Stag Knife

The Rough Rider Canoe in Damascus Stag sets a spear and pen blade combination showing the distinctive layered pattern Damascus is known for, in real Damascus steel with a cinnamon stag bone handle, nickel silver bolsters and an inlay shield.

Damascus steel is forged from repeatedly folded and welded steel layers, giving each blade its own naturally varied pattern from the forging process, so no two knives look exactly alike. The spear blade gives a symmetrical, reinforced tip that stays strong under pressure, well suited to piercing tasks, while the pen blade's smaller, more controlled edge handles fine detail work a larger blade manages less cleanly. The canoe pattern's distinctive shape, tapering to a point at both ends like the boat it's named for, is one of the more recognizable traditional silhouettes among serious collectors and casual buyers alike.

Opening is by nail nick, the way these have always worked, and each blade is retained by a slip joint that works on spring tension rather than a mechanical lock. Rough Rider's Damascus lineup gives collectors an accessible entry point into pattern-welded steel on a classic pattern, without the premium pricing custom Damascus work usually commands.
