Description

The Ancor Green 6 AWG Battery Cable is a 100-foot spool for bonding and grounding circuits, with Type 3 ultra-flexible construction.

Green identifies bonding and grounding, and a bonding conductor does a different job from a DC negative despite both ending at something called ground. The bonding system connects underwater metals so they share a potential and corrode as one controlled system. It passes no current in normal operation, and wiring it as though it were a negative return creates the stray current it exists to prevent.

Six gauge in green suits the main bonding conductor running the length of a boat rather than the branches off it. That main run ties the engine, shafts, struts, thru-hulls and anodes together, and it is sized generously because it has to work under fault conditions too.

Tinned copper stranding protects against corrosion and electrolysis, which matters especially on a conductor that lives in the bilge by definition. Ultra-flexible Type 3 construction routes through machinery spaces and panels while resisting vibration fatigue. Explore more battery cable.

  • Green identifies bonding and grounding
  • A bonding conductor is not a DC negative return
  • No current passes through it in normal operation
  • 6 gauge suits the main bonding run
