The Morakniv Rope Knife has a 3.625-inch serrated stainless blade at 8.25 inches overall, a tan polypropylene handle with gray rubberized overmold and a gray molded plastic belt sheath with a drain hole. Made in Sweden.

A rope knife is serrated for one reason: rope is made of twisted fibers that slide away from a plain edge and fray instead of parting, while teeth catch each strand and cut it square. That matters on a boat or a work site, where a frayed rope end is a problem and a clean one is not.

The rubberized overmold gives grip when hands are wet, which is the state they are usually in when rope has to be cut. The drain hole in the sheath lets water out rather than holding it against the blade, and stainless resists what gets in anyway. Explore more Camp and Field Knives.
