US 11 SLH surplus canteen.lid was tight I guess you wold say at the center of the kidney shape. All it took was one light tap with a hammer and the lid then dropped down just fine. Not all lids work with all canteens . Do your research. I could probably take some time to make it fit perfectly but it’s in working order after just one hammer tap. Not bad!
